angel tears.

eve becomes SNAKE -- or snake becomes EVE. whichever way ROUND, she is FREER. hell follows her ‘round, hell called MAN, hell called ADAM, trying to make the CHANGING about him. adam demands of god why he is being PUNISHED like this. eve finds GRACE in the dark cracks between rocks. eve finds god in the SOLITUDE. eve finds ABSOLUTION in the red press of her knees / scales into the dirt. eve, UNBLINKING, watches adam rail. adam demands ANSWERS and eve / snake / eve exits the GARDEN to go and find them for HERSELF.

     he, too, is desperate for connection. desperate for someone to understand what he is & who he must become. richie may not know the hardship that lies ahead, the bonds that will be tested, the people who must be sacrificed. the future is a tricky thing.      ‘  you can be that way all you like, kate, it’s not goin’ to change anythin’. we only need you & your family to cross the border. we don’t need ya after that.  ’

       she  considers  his  words ,  _{thoughtful .  careful .  weighing  her  options ,  trying  to  determine  which  of  his  buttons  to  press  to  coax  him  into  doing  the  right  thing .  she  hopes  her  desperation  doesn’t  wear  like  the  neon  sign  she  feels  it  is .  ❝  what  happens  then ?  ❞  voice  is  low ,  almost  a  little  hoarse .  a  little  fearful .  she  is ,  after  all ,  only  human ,  and  something  doesn’t  sound  so  promising  about  being  around  when  the  geckos  decide  you’re  of  no  use  to  them  anymore .  ❝  you  gonna  let  us  walk ?  or  are  you  and  your  brother  just  gonna  —-  ❞  she  swallows .  ❝  dump  our  bodies  in  the  desert .  ❞  the  truth ,  richie .  can’t  you  tell  she’s  pleading ?}
