eve becomes SNAKE -- or snake becomes EVE. whichever way ROUND, she is FREER. hell follows her ‘round, hell called MAN, hell called ADAM, trying to make the CHANGING about him. adam demands of god why he is being PUNISHED like this. eve finds GRACE in the dark cracks between rocks. eve finds god in the SOLITUDE. eve finds ABSOLUTION in the red press of her knees / scales into the dirt. eve, UNBLINKING, watches adam rail. adam demands ANSWERS and eve / snake / eve exits the GARDEN to go and find them for HERSELF.
more than anything, at that moment in time, richie was a way out. she knew there was a spark of interest there every since the pool. they were drawn to each other inexplicably, since the very beginning, which makes sense considering the connection that was shown over and over again throughout all three seasons. she was attracted to him, sure, that much was clear. but the kiss in the club was not a romantic or sexual advance. she knows that ultimately, she has the upper hand here. after she does kiss him, he does want to let her go, he wants to give her the keys and let her leave with her family. whatever feelings or attraction she held towards him were of no importance in this moment. it was a manipulation tactic. she saw how much richie wanted, needed human connection, and she gave that to him because she knew it’d make him soften towards her and give her & her family a better chance of survival.
