eve becomes SNAKE -- or snake becomes EVE. whichever way ROUND, she is FREER. hell follows her ‘round, hell called MAN, hell called ADAM, trying to make the CHANGING about him. adam demands of god why he is being PUNISHED like this. eve finds GRACE in the dark cracks between rocks. eve finds god in the SOLITUDE. eve finds ABSOLUTION in the red press of her knees / scales into the dirt. eve, UNBLINKING, watches adam rail. adam demands ANSWERS and eve / snake / eve exits the GARDEN to go and find them for HERSELF.

“no, why would i be jealous?” there’s something innocent about the way that his eyebrows furrow downward after her words, but it’s typical riche behavior, typical to a time before kate, really. being a culebra had made things easier, but social cues were missed more often than understood. it was just a part of the way that his brain was wired. “guess i’ll try not to get you killed at least.” it’s half a joke, really, no doubt fully inappropriate with the way that it comes across, but the sentiment behind the words hold nothing but truth.
’ DON’T ASK ME, you’re the one who’s jealous. ’ it’s said flippantly, more than a hint of amusement creeping into her voice. that drops like a bomb at his next comment, though, body stiffening and half-smile disappearing from her face in an instant. ‘ stop. ’ she doesn’t want to talk about that. doesn’t want to think about it. would really just like to pretend it never happened, like the scars on her body didn’t come from gunfire and sacrifices. ‘ that wasn’t your fault. ’ if she does blame him, she’d never tell him - it’s something she’ll wrestle with on her own time.
