THE RAIN COMES down in sheets, and kate’s umbrella is broken. it’s what she gets, she guesses, for buying it so cheap at an open air market back in mexico. it takes about five minutes too long to force the thing open, & once it is she learns there’s a HUGE hole in it. great. gaze lifts & meets the other girl’s - half-smile dimples one cheek, preacher’s daughter shrugs & fits the broken thing into a trash can. a little rain never hurt, anyway. immediately blood-red hair is darkened & dampened, sticks to her cheeks & neck. ‘ one of those days, i guess. ’ / @glitterskinned
