eve becomes SNAKE -- or snake becomes EVE. whichever way ROUND, she is FREER. hell follows her ‘round, hell called MAN, hell called ADAM, trying to make the CHANGING about him. adam demands of god why he is being PUNISHED like this. eve finds GRACE in the dark cracks between rocks. eve finds god in the SOLITUDE. eve finds ABSOLUTION in the red press of her knees / scales into the dirt. eve, UNBLINKING, watches adam rail. adam demands ANSWERS and eve / snake / eve exits the GARDEN to go and find them for HERSELF.

Faith or no faith, a church was still an easy and reliable place to find sanctuary. In the past, even he had found himself hiding among the always-familiar pews when there was no other option. If she was opposed to the idea, though, he couldn’t blame her.

         ❛   It’s a bit of a drive, but my place has a lot of extra rooms. You could stay until the rain clears up. All the doors have locks on ‘em, so you can hide from me if you decide I’m shady.   ❜

A pause.

         ❛   Or I could call you a cab, if you have somewhere you’re aimin’ to be.   ❜

            _{KATE KNOWS EXACTLY what her daddy would say if he were here. you stay away from that man, katie cakes. ain’t nothing good gonna come from this. but her daddy’s not here, and neither are the gecko brothers, who’d likely be hissing and spitting the moment he looked her way - and something within the girl is irritated at herself for even wondering what they’d say. her first instinct is most definitely not trust the stranger - but she pushes that feeling aside in favor of pointedly making a decision for herself. eyebrows raise a little, coy sort of smile curving her lips. ‘ well, i already think you’re shady, ’ she teases, ‘ invitin a girl to your place before even tellin her your name. but i’m also thinkin i’d rather take my chances with you than go back to bein cooped up inside a motel room. ’}
