WELL, YOU CAN color kate unimpressed. mouth, shiny with strawberry lip gloss, pulls into a frown as she shuts the motel room behind her. his voice is raspy - she immediately worries he hasn’t been drinking water, & then immediately kicks herself for caring so much. ‘ you only paid for the ONE room, seth. ’ she took it as a subtle sign that they were running out of money, which might very well be the case. ‘ where else do you expect me to go ? ’ there’s an edge to her voice, there - genuine worry that he expects her to take care of herself & leave him to the needles he thinks she doesn’t know about. she can’t do that, not yet. as much as she hates to admit it, she needs him.
SO INSTEAD OF snapping at him, getting angry the way she wants to - she swallows that feeling. slips it into something soft and silky, like putting on a nightgown. his body seems to be both rigid & lax as she takes a seat on the bed beside him, frowning down at him. ‘ you’re not as sneaky as ya think, ’ she informs him, frown still in place though tone has softened. ‘ thanks for tryin t’ keep it from me, though. ’ he did try, at least, to shield her from whatever mess he’s been trying to mix his blood with. she can appreciate that - to an extent. he’s still completely STUPID, as far as she’s concerned, for getting himself into this in the first place.
