Being one of the few working staff at this place always made days long and the fact that it wasn’t the most glamorous of places on top of that meant that people rarely came in made those tedious days even longer.
Eyes darted to the back of the venue to see two unwelcome faces. The Tweedle brothers were never her favourites, they made her uncomfortable and seeing as they were the only other customers in the tiny diner, she’d keep an eye out for all three of them to make sure the inevitable shit didn’t hit the fan.
Those dark eyes of hers returned to the young woman for a brief moment and then back to the brothers, a swift warning, then again to her. Her writing pad was withdrawn and she finally began. “What can I get you? We have some really nice cherry pie if you’re a sweet tooth… or if you want something that’ll fill you up, we’ve got a really nice tomato soup. Whatever, really.” She looked to the table to see there being no menu there. A subtly grumble to herself. “Want to have a look at our menu?”
GREEN GAZE FOLLOWS the other’s, settling on the two MEN. she has a gun in her purse, always does when seth isn’t around. she hopes she doesn’t have to use it, doesn’t think she could STOMACH it, but it makes her feel safer all the same. kate feels almost bad being so suspicious of people she’s never talked to, but if the expression contorting the woman’s pretty face is anything to go by, it’s warranted. kate listens to the other speak patiently - wry smile curving her lips at CHERRY PIE. she can’t hear the words without remembering being leered at in front of the twister - but that was a LIFETIME ago, & of no real importance anymore. when the question of a menu is raised preacher’s daughter simply shakes her head. ‘ no, that’s fine, ’ doesn’t want to be a bother. ‘ i’ll have TWO of the soups - one to-go, if that’s alright ? …. ’ texas drawl hesitates for a moment before she decides to treat herself. any day could be her last, after all. ‘ and a slice of that pie would be great. ’
