send “don’t be scared” for your muse to find kate injured and alone // accepting !

IT WASN’T SUPPOSED to end up like this. she was supposed to be able to keep herself SAFE by now. she was supposed to be part of the team. she was supposed to pull her own weight. but kate panicked and things went to shit - her boys got away just fine but she’s not so lucky. she should be better at this by now. she shouldn’t worry about god, He let her die, she shouldn’t worry about heaven or hell but once they cross her mind she’s distracted enough to catch a bullet in her belly. she stumbles out of the bank, ends up in an alley not too far with one hand clutching her gun and the other pressed to her bullet wound. it comes away red when she lifts it, and she’s seen enough carnage by now to know that only her own blood makes her feel this sick. the world spins around her and all she can remember is santa sangre, blood red eyes and X I B A L B A.

SHE’S NOT STUPID. she knows the bullet didn’t hit her lungs but it still makes it so hard to breathe. she’s hyperventilating, tears rising in green eyes as hard as she tries to fight them off. she’s going to die in this alleyway. can she still pray ? will god have mercy on her soul despite all the commandments she’s knowingly broken ? she doesn’t know, but the lord’s prayer echos in her brain the same way it did that first night in the twister. our father in heaven, hallowed be thy name - FOOTSTEPS SOUND, kate prepares for the worst. thy kingdom come, your will be done - smell of blood hangs heavy in the air, if it’s a culebra she wouldn’t be surprised - on earth as it is in heaven. the words the other speaks are intended to be soothing, she’s sure, but her body still tenses at the unfamiliar voice. one delicate hand still grips her gun, but she doesn’t raise it. ( she’s not entirely sure if she can.

i’m NOT afraid. the seriousness of the words are undercut by the shakiness of her voice, the pleading quality to it that begs for kindness & the fact that it’s unclear whether she’s assuring him or herself. i’m not.
